Re: Who has chickens?
Sat, February 28, 2004 - 2:02 PM...alrighty Jordan, tell us about your chickens! Some friends of mine and I are going to be getting some soon. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We're going to be building a coop and such. How big should a space be for a certain number of chickens? I know chickens have highly formed hierarchies, is this a problem in general or just the way it is?

Re: Who has chickens?
Fri, January 30, 2004 - 6:01 PMHave a flock of 11 hens and one rooster, this time of year getting about 4 or 5 eggs a day. A couple of the hens are currently in molt. Kind of late for it, I'll see how quickly they replace the missing feathers. -

Re: Who has chickens?
Mon, March 22, 2004 - 10:43 AMcurrently none, but I kept chickens for four years, raised them from egg to table (so to speak)----35 layers (buff orpingtons and black austrolorps) and an ever changing cast of different cocks raised for meat......also a flock of turkeys.....i miss my birdy friends, but they tasted so delicious! :-) -

Re: Who has chickens?
Tue, March 23, 2004 - 7:35 PMUHHHHHHG Chickens..
filthy dirty stinky stupid creatures.
I'm think I must be scarred by a childhood of chores.
--and waiting hand and foot on the little guys until they got axed.
it was fifteen years of vegetarian dining before I could even look at an egg, or bury my head in a bucket of the secret recipie.
-phew---
vent, rant, pant,
It sure is nice to be able to enjoy an omlette again, but thinking about raising the little shit balls is enough to send this farm fag to the funny farm.

Re: Who has chickens?
Wed, July 14, 2004 - 7:07 AMMy mother thought it was a good idea to put a chicken egg underneat a duck and the duck loved her chick but she drowned it when she tried to make it swim. My mother cried for days.
Type of the day.
Don't put your chicken eggs under a duck.
